Once again months seem to have passed. However, I did manage to get the car out for a track day at Rockingham on the 12th October. My main objective was to gets some miles on the clock, bed in the brakes and generally let the car settle down. This it did with only a couple of errors on the part of the driver.
I cam away from the day with a number of issues which need sorting out: Brake bias adjustment never gave much in the way of rear brakes, the LSD doesn't seem to work (the inside wheel was always spinning), far too much oversteer ( I think this is an alignment issue) and the Michelin Pilots really do not work....
Since the track day I have left most of the issues from the day and concentrated on IVA items to give me a reasonable time in the hands of the tester. All the forms, pictures etc have gone of (8th January)
so I now wait for a test day. Aside from Royal Mail confirmation of receipt they have cashed the cheque so something is happening. I think......
Looks like you have a similar amount of roll to me (too much). I suspect the solution is an anti-roll bar front and rear. I also had oversteer issues, which were cured by a good setup - I used AB Performance for this, they are sort-of local for me, bit further for you I guess but worth the trip as they did a great job on my car.
ReplyDeleteSurprised the Michelins were no good, I was stunned at how good these are in the wet on a friend's boxster. I'm running R888s which are the best option I've found so far. What was the issue, not enough grip? It might just be setup preventing the tyres from working, so maybe address that first?
Anyway - good to see you had a successful outing with it - good luck with the IVA!
Hi Dave. Whereabouts are AB Performance? The Michelins were used but not to the point of being unusable. However, they have now gone!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the IVA will fairly painless and after a re test I can use it a bit more on the road to sort the chassis. I am starting to think ARB once the alignment is sorted.
AB Performance (http://www.abperformance.co.uk) are in Suffolk, not too far from Peterborough? I did speak to them about an ARB - they reckoned it should be straightforward to fit both front and rear ARBs. I would suggest getting a proper setup, then do a few trackdays and get a feel for what the next step might be?
ReplyDeleteI think it needs to get a bit warmer before using it on the road... would like to get out in mine but it's too cold at the moment. We should sort out a trackday when the weather gets a bit warmer?
